Important national project events were presented and discussed with leading national experts during the plenary session.
According to plenary session moderator Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova, the people of Russia deserve to live long in prosperity and health: “The new ‘Long and Active Life’ national project will focus on many different aspects to achieve the ultimate goal of increasing life expectancy to 78 years by 2030. Life expectancy has already started to grow in Russia, and global experience has shown that it can be extremely difficult to raise numbers that are already high. There is potential, but it is only through the combined effort of government agencies, medical institutions, public activists, and scientific organizations that we will be able to create a sustainable system and achieve tangible results.”
Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko drew attention to a number of important areas affecting the nation’s health: “Although many factors affect active longevity, including one’s environment and genetics, the most important is lifestyle. It is important to develop the right habits and, what’s more important, the desire to be healthy. A simple desire to be healthy can do more than anything a doctor might advise. The preoccupation with treatment is shifting to a preoccupation with health. The healthcare of the future will contribute to national goals, and every person will receive quality medical care regardless of where they might live.”
The ‘Women for a Healthy Society: Trends and Initiatives for Active Longevity’ strategic session was held with the support of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA of Russia) Veronika Skvortsova reported on worker health protection in the Russian Federation, spoke about innovative health preservation and prevention, and unveiled the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia’s Workers’ Health Centre reference model: “The usual approaches to monitoring workers engaged in dangerous activity must be supplemented by mandatory automated monitoring with electronic medical devices. To implement these new approaches, the Agency has developed a Strategy for Modern Worker Health Centres that includes a network of digital health centres directly at production sites, health monitoring, emergency consultations, and physical, cognitive, psycho-emotional self-examinations starting this year.”
