SPIEF 2021 Shines the Spotlight on Healthcare

The Healthy Life Area operated on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The business programme sessions of the Healthy Life Area encompassed a wide range of issues, such as the fight against infectious and non-infectious diseases, the development of high technologies in medical care, the creation of medical ecosystems as well as the development of Russian medical science.

“Healthy Life is a discussion platform that brings together representatives of the government, business, and the expert community. It hosts discussions on new ways to form a culture of a healthy lifestyle, compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards, and the development of preventive methods. Today, it is crucial to conduct a proactive information campaign among citizens to promote and combat infectious diseases. The Healthy Life Area is an effective tool for achieving this goal,” Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova said. She also noted the special role of women in promoting modern health protection technologies and disease prevention programmes.

The opening ceremony of the Healthy Life Area was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Henri P. Kluge, Roscongress Foundation CEO and Chairman of the Board Alexander Stuglev, Content Fund for the Development of Expert and Analytical Activities Director Elena Sokolova, and Head of the Roscongress Foundation Healthcare Projects Directorate Anastasia Stolkova.

WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Henri P. Kluge personally presented Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko with a WHO Commemorative Medal for Russia’s efforts to combat smoking. Murashko noted that public health should be viewed comprehensively and that people need to be motivated to lead a healthy lifestyle and be educated on how to take care of their health.

On 2–5 June, the Healthy Life Area hosted 12 sessions of the business programme and expert discussions were attended by: Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova, Deputy Minister of Health Oleg Salagay, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Kamkin, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Oleg Gridnev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Tatyana Semenova, Kemerovo Region – Kuzbass Governor Sergey Tsivilev, State Duma Deputy and Chairman of the State Duma’s Committee for Health Protection Dmitry Morozov, Chief External Expert on Problems with HIV Diagnosis and Treatment of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and Moscow Department of Health Alexey Mazus, Director of the National Medical Research Centre of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Oksana Drapkina, World Health Innovations Summit (WHIS) CEO Sultana Afdhal, General Director of the National Medical Research Centre of Radiology of the Russian Ministry of Health Andrey Kaprin, and General Director of the Almazov National Medical Research Centre of the Russian Ministry of Health and Russian Cardiological Society President Yevgeny Shlyakhto, among others.
