Veronika Skvortsova to Support the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+

The Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova is to participate in the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+, which will take place in Sochi on 13 February 2019. At the initiative of the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, the business programme of the Forum includes a roundtable discussion ‘Public health in the Russian regions’.

The roundtable will discuss the ways to create an environment conducive to a healthy lifestyle of the population. According to the ‘May Decree’ of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, one of the priority tasks is to increase the expected lifespan of the Russian population. Thus, the goal is to expand the range of preventative measures, make public healthcare more effective.

‘Diagnostics of diseases at their earliest stages allows timely identification of risk factors and start of preventive therapy. Many serious diseases can be cured at the most initial stage. One of our priorities is to nurture the habit of Russian citizens to take care of their health and regularly undergo preventive checkups,” noted the Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova.

The key discussions at the roundtable are also to cover the ways of upgrading healthcare centres, advancing the competencies of medical personnel, as well as means to create a preventive environment that includes preventive medicine and non-medical public wellness programmes.

The Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+ will be held on 13 February 2019, on the first day of the Russian Investment Forum. The key objective of the Forum is the discussion of ways to the goal of increasing the expected lifespan to 78 years by 2024 and to 80 years by 2030, as well as consideration of issues relating to demographic development, healthcare, projects in science, education and environmental protection.
