The conference ‘Creating a Healthy Society in the Far East and Arctic’, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation’s Healthy Life project, will take place on the opening day of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum on 5 September. The conference is part of the plan of events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023.
The conference programme consists of two thematic pillars: ‘Demographic Development of the Country – Strategies for Preserving the People of the Far East and Arctic’ will focus on the demographic agenda in the Arctic region and the Far Eastern Federal District, increasing the birth rate, as well as strengthening family health and traditional family values.
“Solving the demographic issue in the Far East requires an integrated approach. This not only means developing healthcare, preventing disease, and spreading the principles of a healthy lifestyle, but also increasing the living standards of the population, solving social problems, and reducing the outflow of the population from the region,” said Oleg Apolikhin, a member of the Commission on Demographics and the Protection of the Family, Children, and Traditional Family Values of the Russian Public Chamber.
The session ‘Investing in Traditional Values: Russia’s National Idea of a Prosperous Large Family’ will be held with the support of the Russian Public Chamber. This pillar, which is supported by the Women for a Healthy Life project and the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum, will include the discussion ‘Women’s Agenda for a Healthy Society: New Opportunities in Remote Areas’, during which experts will discuss the main priorities of Russia’s social policy, women’s role in achieving the main priorities of the country’s social policy, new opportunities for development, and the support measures that socially active women need, as well as ways to promote the new trend of women combining various social roles in society.
The thematic pillar ‘Human Health as the Top Priority: Guidelines for Developing Medicine in the Far East and Arctic’ will focus on the quality, accessibility, and safety of medical care.
The expert discussion ‘Quality, Accessibility, and Safety of Medical Care: The Cornerstone of People’s Well-being’ will be held with the support of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare. The participants will consider what aspects are shaping the new methodology for assessing public satisfaction with medical care, how to assess the current state of quality and safety of healthcare, which new tools are currently being implemented to improve the organization of medical care, ways to monitor the quality and safety of medical activities both in the Far Eastern Federal District and the country as a whole, as well as how to ensure drug safety for patients and improve patient compliance.
