Government Officials and Business Representatives Discuss Strategies for the Fight Against the Coronavirus Infection

14 April 2020
Moscow recently hosted the roundtable ‘The World in a Pandemic: Global COVID-19 Strategies,’ focusing on the strategies to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, as informed by global best practices, that are being adopted in Russia. The event was organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Content Foundation for the Development of Expert and Analytical Activity. Additional support was provided by Uralchem and Metalloinvest.
Russia-24, RBK, and Russian News Agency TASS served as the event’s information partners. The event was attended by Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing – Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation Anna Popova, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) CEO Svetlana Chupsheva, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) Alexander Shokhin, and Metalloinvest Social Policy and Corporate Communications Director Julia Mazanova. Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov patched into the roundtable remotely.
“Currently, the well-being and health of our citizens in large part depends on how the government and businesses consolidate their efforts to combat the pandemic. This threat can only be countered if we work together. Today, the country is implementing a number of multifaceted measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus infection; these measures have already shown themselves to be effective. A large part of the responsibility is on the shoulders of citizens themselves, on how seriously each of them approaches the recommended isolation regime. A lot depends on how quickly we are able to deal with this problem and return to life as usual,” noted Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.
The Content Foundation and Roscongress Foundation have worked together to create a communication platform for discussing the measures being taken by the government and businesses to reduce the socioeconomic consequences of the coronavirus infection. The roundtable ‘The World in a Pandemic: Global COVID-19 Strategies’ is the first event in a series of online discussions organized by the platform.
“The global community must work together in order to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Our first roundtable brought together government and business representatives to work out strategies and find optimal solutions for working under these new conditions. The roundtable was broadcast live from three of the platform’s information partners’ studios simultaneously. The next meetings will be dedicated to staffing policies during the crisis, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and diagnostic tactics and ensuring infected individuals’ access to coronavirus treatment,” said Director of the Content Foundation for the Development of Expert and Analytical Activity Elena Sokolova.
