28 April 2020
The roundtable ‘Understanding and Defeating COVID-19: Diagnostic Tactics and Access to Medical Care’ will be broadcast live by the news channel Russia 24 and TASS News Agency on 29 April at 18:30 Moscow Time. The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Content Foundation for the Development of Expert and Analytical Activity.

The roundtable will feature the participation of Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing – Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation Anna Popova, World Health Organization Representative to the Russian Federation Melita Vujnovic, Professor of the Faculty of Health Sciences at The University of Sydney Patrick Brennan, Professor of the Department of Surgical and Medical Sciences and Translational Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome Andrea Laghi, Head of the Department of Radiology of University Hospital Brussels Johan De Mey, President Elect of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) Maurizio Cecconi, and President and CEO of GE Healthcare in Russia and the CIS Nina Kandelaki.
“Russia currently has enough potential to comprehensively test its citizens. Our test systems are on par with foreign analogues and even surpass them in many respects. What's more, if a coronavirus infection is suspected, people can undergo a CT scan even if the COVID-19 test comes back negative. Not only does the efficient and targeted diagnosis of a coronavirus infection allow for timely medical care, it also helps limit the spread of the illness,” said Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko.
Other countries’ experience in facing this pandemic has shown that mass testing and the most complete identification of all infected persons and their temporary isolation is the only viable strategy for limiting the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The roundtable will be held as part of an event series on a unified communications platform that brings together government officials and business representatives to find the most effective ways of cooperating in the battle against the coronavirus. The platform was created by the Content Foundation and the Roscongress Foundation. The pandemic has affected practically all parts of our lives and has shocked both the citizens and the economies of most countries. The only way to handle this threat is by working together, and such dialogue platforms allow us to get all stakeholders involved,” said Director of the Content Foundation for the Development of Expert and Analytical Activity Elena Sokolova.
This event is made possible through the support of the event General partner GE Healthcare.
