More than 3,000 representatives of federal and regional authorities, expert and scientific communities, heads of related ministries and departments, major domestic and foreign companies, journalists, and exhibitors participated in the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+, which took place on 13 February at the Sochi Olympic Park Main Media Centre. “This forum was the first event organized by the Roscongress Foundation as part of the national Healthcare project. This socially significant event will lay the foundation for similar events and other national projects”, Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, said.
More than 30 events were held as part of the Forum programme and witnessed the consideration of “key issues of health preservation”, as Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova put it.
Events were held within three thematic blocs: Demographics: on the threshold of societal change, The contribution of healthcare to quality of life, and Infrastructure for healthy living.
A number of panel sessions were accredited by the Commission of the Coordinating Council for the Development of Continuing Medical and Pharmaceutical Education (CMPE). More than 400 health workers underwent training for the Organization of public healthcare services.
During the ‘Hormones on the Path to Longevity’ meeting of the Russian Society of Young Endocrinologists, which was attended by international experts from Greece, Switzerland, and Italy, industry professionals had an opportunity to hold a detailed discussion about modern approaches in the treatment of diseases of the endocrine system.
Awards were handed out during the forum to the winners of the All-Russian ‘Best Public-Private Partnership Project in Healthcare’ contest.
A key event of the Forum was the ‘Towards life expectancy of 80 years in Russia: challenges and solutions’ plenary session.
The final event of the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+ was the ‘Healthy life expectancy is the basis for societal development’ panel session, which the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev took part in. Discussion of the topic of increasing the healthy life expectancy of Russian citizens took place on 14 February at the Russian Investment Forum.
“I would like to thank the Forum organizers and the Government of the Russian Federation for being able to get together today to discuss such important topics as Russians’ health and the development of healthcare. This means that they have become a definite national priority. It’s no accident that the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi is kicking off with the consideration of key issues concerning healthcare since the most important investments in the development of the country are the development of human potential, increasing longevity of life, and improving the quality of life. We should attain life expectancy indicators of 80 years or more by 2030, so the main paradigm of modern Russian healthcare is for each person to transition from a passive participant to an active partner in health preservation. The government’s job is to support people in this endeavour”, Russian Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova said in her address to Medvedev.
The Forum was attended by 3,000 people, including delegates from 21 countries: Argentina, Armenia, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Belarus, Serbia, Slovakia, USA, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, Estonia, Japan.
The Forum was attended by 10 governors, 20 vice-governors for social policy, and 27 regional ministers of health and social protection. More than 50 members of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of healthcare also took part.

THE EXHIBITION AT THE ‘HEALTHY LIFE: TOWARDS 80+’FORUM
Companies that took part in the Healthy Life exhibition to present their achievements in domestic and foreign medicine as well as breakthrough technological and innovative projects that aim to improve the quality of life and life expectancy of the population included:
Kivach Clinic, which specializes in integrative medicine;
Axion Concern, which manufactures and sells medical and household devices;
the Armed modern multidisciplinary treatment and diagnostic centre;
BIOCAD, one of the largest international innovative biotechnological companies with a full cycle for drug development in Russia;
the international research pharmaceutical company GSK, which develops and manufactures innovative drugs, vaccines, and health products;
the global biopharmaceutical company Sanofi.
Events aimed at promoting health were organized in the “Healthy Society” exhibition space:
Forum participants underwent DNA testing and in two weeks received their personal DNA report on more than 60 pages with unique information about their bodies and a selection of personal diets, physical exercise, cosmetics, and procedures.
the ‘Healthy Living Office’, where people could learn about their health and get screenings and individual research-based recommendations under the clear guidance of instructors.
The Main Media Centre had two mobile health centres operating out of GAZel NEXT vehicle as well as mobile HIV testing sites, where specialists from the regional AIDS centre conducted the necessary research with complete confidentiality. 642 Forum participants were tested anonymously for HIV infection.
THE HEALTHY LIFE INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS CONTEST
The Healthy Life Innovative Solutions Contest semifinal pitch session took place in the Case Zone on 13 February. Following the presentation of 15 projects, four finalists were selected to present their projects during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in June 2019. Participants placing in the top three received grants totaling RUB 1.5 million. The winners received their prizes from First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsyb.
As part of the Forum exhibition, the semi-finalists of the Healthy Life Innovative Solutions Contest, together with the Skolkovo Foundation, presented projects in the field of therapeutic, diagnostic medical devices and digital medicine, projects of great social importance with the power to significantly improve the quality of life of the population.

The Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+ was covered by 552 representatives of the Russian and foreign media (545 – Russian, 7 – foreign). Applications were received from 5 countries (excluding Russia): the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Belarus, USA, and Sweden.
The ‘10,000 steps to life’ initiative was held on 13 February in Sochi Olympic Park, organized jointly with the All-Russian Public Organization National Health League public organization under the guidance of Director of the Bakulev National Medical Research Centre of Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Ministry of Health Leo Bokeria and was attended by more than 1,000 people, including residents and visitors of the city.
The action-packed sports programme continued on 14 February with the Roscongress Cup race on the Formula 1 track, which was attended by over 400 people, including participants and guests of the Forum and residents of Sochi. The race was headed by Head of the Udmurt Republic Alexander Brechalov, Acting Governor of Kursk Region Roman Starovoyt, and Acting Governor of Lipetsk Region Igor Artamonov.
The Roscongress Cup: Chess Tournament was held. The opening of the Gala Match was hosted by First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Zhukov and Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Taxes of the State Duma Andrei Makarov.
The Ice Hockey Gala Match pitted the Russian Government Team against the Russian Investment Forum Team and featured the participation of Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Evgeniy Ditrikh, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Kozlov, President of TatarstanRustamMinnikhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee Alexander Medvedev, CEO of Novotrans Group Konstantin Goncharov, and Rector of Russian State Social University Natalya Pochinok.
